I wrote a short script but I'm not sure what sort of level it is at. I would like to enter it in some film festivals. Would anyone have a look at it and tell if if it's fine the way it is, needs some work, or forget the whole idea.

Tell me a little about it.

    Cool

don't send it to anyone unless it's to an agent!

Also, if you're not sure about something you're probably right. Go back and change it.

Id love to read your script. Please feel free to email it to me.

However, *before* sending it to anyone you should seal it in an envelope and send it to yourself. When it arrives, DO NOT open it. This way you will at least have some comback and weight in the courts if infringement issues arise because you will have a postmarked copy..

This isn't really true Barnstormed. For one thing, registered mail can simply be re-sealed. The best thing to do, obviously is some kind of official registration. Either with the copyright office or Writer's Guild. Mailing to yourself is cheap and cheerful but I wouldn't stake much on the outcome. If low-cost is the priority, get a poloroid camera and have someone take a snapshot of you holding your script and the day's newspaper. Its probably slightly tighter than your suggestion, plus you get to make a fool out of yourself.

I do have it registered with the Australian writers guild. Not only that I treaten people with death to anyone who steals it.

    lol

There's usually no need to hurl around copious death-threats. An established production company have nothing to gain by stealing your work or idea (they'd have to spend a fortune on development anyway, they might as well pay you for what you've already done). But I think we should be wary about small prodcos and other writers.
